KABUL: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah has said the outgoing solar year saw ‘remarkable achievements’ and pledged resolution to people’s problems as government’s top in the new year.

Addressing the Cabinet’s last meeting for this solar year that ends on March 21, the CEO said the government was committed to resolving people’s problems and working with even further strong commitment to addressing their issues in the coming year.

Abdullah termed solar year 1396 as “most working period” in past 17 years and added despite security challenges major achievements were gained on political and economic fronts.

About peace making, the CEO said: “I hope the peace front would become more united and together so we are able to achieve durable peace over those who want war and instability.” “Fortunately, the confrontation with Balkh (province) is being resolved,” he said.

Earlier President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had removed Governor Atta Mohammad Noor as the governor of northern Balkh province, but Noor refused to step down triggering a confrontation with the Presidential Palace.

However, recently government officials said an agreement had reached between the two sides.
