Chairman Senate shows displeasure over PM, Interior minister absence from senate session

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Chairman Senate, Raza Rabbani showed displeasure over the absence of Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and adding that PM should have stayed in country because of the current law and order situation in the capital.

This he said while presiding a senate session on Monday. Rabbani also expressed displeasure over the absence of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal from the senate session.

While lambasting the Interior Minister, Rabbani said that Ahsan Iqbal can reached the high court in 15 minutes but he is not interest in parliament and its affairs and adding that if he is not present in the session who will brief the senate.

Rabbani added that Interior minister should have attended the Senate session and briefed the members regarding the current situation in Islamabad.

Rabbani was pointing towards the recent developments which forced the law minister to resign from his position, the operation which was held to clear the protesters and the ensuing protests which led to disruption in the country’s law and order situation.

State Minister for Interior Affairs Talal Chaudhry, present in the session, asked for time until Tuesday and said the lawmakers would be apprised then.

Meanwhile, the Senate session was adjourned without the bill on the delimitation of constituencies being passed.

The session was held for the fourth time to discuss the bill, which has been approved by the National Assembly.
