LONDON: Former Pakistan cricketer Bazid Khan has claimed that Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy win was an anomaly considering the Men in Green’s poor form in One-day Internationals (ODIs). While talking to Sportstar in Edgbaston, Bazid called for a robust review of the reasons ailing Pakistan cricket.
“We have not been doing well in one-day cricket for quite a while. The Champions Trophy win came out of the blue. Either side of it, our team hasn’t done well, especially in ODI cricket,” said Bazid. “You got to look at the whys and answer why Pakistan cricket is way behind in world cricket.”
The 38-year-old also criticized Pakistan’s poor domestic cricket structure. “Pakistan has never had a good first-class structure and the players never had a structure to fall back on. The players don’t get the opportunity to go back to the first-class structure and work on their weakness,” he said. The Sarfaraz-led unit will play their next match of the event against South Africa on Sunday, June 23 at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
