Chaos erupts as egg thrown at Aleema Khan outside Adiala

F.P. Report

RAWALPINDI: A dramatic scene unfolded outside Adiala Jail on Friday when an egg was hurled at Aleema Khan, a sister of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, as she addressed the media following the Toshakhana II case hearing.

The incident quickly escalated into chaos, with PTI workers assaulting two young women accused of carrying out the act. The incident occurred in the Dahgal area near Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi police spokesperson claimed.

Egg attack during media talk

Aleema Khan, accompanied by her sister, was speaking to reporters when suddenly an egg was thrown in her direction. The egg struck Aleema, creating panic at the spot. Witnesses described the atmosphere as tense, with PTI supporters immediately reacting to the disruption.

PTI workers assault girls, damage car

Angered by the incident, PTI workers allegedly tortured the two girls suspected of throwing the egg. In the chaos, the workers also smashed the windows of the girls’ car parked nearby. Eyewitnesses said the situation turned violent within moments, drawing the attention of security officials.

Police step in

Rawalpindi police intervened and took the two girls into custody, shifting them to Adiala Chowki for further investigation. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the girls were directly involved in the attack or not.

Rawalpindi Police response

The women who threw eggs at Aleema Khan were identified as PTI workers, according to police claims. Both women involved in the attack were from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and had come to Adiala Jail regarding the protest by provincial employees.

The spokesperson added that the women became upset when Aleema Khan did not respond to their question, which led to the confrontation. Police confirmed that both women were taken into custody following the incident.

Aleema Khan’s response and PTI reaction

Speaking about the incident, Aleema Khan said she was not shaken by the attack. “I was already aware that something like this could happen,” she remarked calmly.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan strongly condemned the incident and criticized the hostile environment around party leaders. He expressed deep regret over the attack and said that targeting the family of PTI’s founder in such a manner was unacceptable.

“There is clearly someone behind this who wants to create chaos,” Barrister Gohar said, adding that such an act was “extremely despicable and inappropriate” and unbecoming of anyone.

He demanded that foolproof security be provided to the family of the PTI founder and urged authorities to take immediate action against those responsible for the incident.
