Chemist shutter down strike enters fourth day in Punjab

LAHORE: The Chemist and Druggist Association shutter down strike continues on the fourth day across Punjab on Sunday against Drug Act 2017.

The medical stores of the province were shut down and they demanded to eliminate the Drug Act 2017 and announced that strike will continue till their demands to meet.

Patients in the province for getting the medicines and they were waiting for hours as all the stores outside the major hospitals of the province including Mayo and Ganga Ram’s hospitals in Lahore.

Private news channel reported that the same situation also persists in other cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Okara, Narowal, Sadiqabad, Chishtian, Pir Mahal, Kasur and Vehari, where the medicines are unavailable as the medical stores have been shut down on the call of All Pakistan Chemists and Drugs Association.

Neither any action nor any negotiations have yet been announced by the government in this regard. From the past three days, the authorities continue to remain silent spectators over the strike.
