China reaffirms commitment to support Afghanistan

KABUL: Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Liu Jinsong On Tuesday renewed commitment to support Afghanistan in various areas and said Afghanistan had become more important to them after the deliberation at the 19th National Congress held three months back.

Addressing a seminar on 19the National Congress of CEPC and China Afghanistan Relationships, Ambassador Jinsong said China adhered to its policy of non-intervention and spurned media reports regarding the establishment of military base in Badakhshan.

Highlighting Kabul-Beijing relation, the envoy pledged to work closely with Afghan partners and further strengthen relation between the two countries in various fields.

He assured Afghanistan of support the Afghan-led reconciliation process and condemned terrorism in all its form and manifestation. The participants offered prayers to the victims of recent terrorist attacks in Kabul at the start of seminar.

The envoy pledged to cooperate in paving the way for Afghanistan’s exports to China specially the pine nuts, marbles and pomegranates.

He spread light over China Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and said the purpose of the multinational scheme was to improve inter-state connectivity, strengthen economies of other countries and social integration.

Jinsong said BRI emphasized the great potential and space for cooperation among the regional countries by promoting policy coordination and facilitating connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration and people to people communication.

He said China was fostering a new type of international relation base on principle mutual benefit, respect and would never force any country to adopt Chinese policy.

Afghan government officials, journalist and political affairs experts also attended the event and spread light over different aspect of China-Afghan relation.
