China, Russia held joint air patrols in Asia-Pacific region

MOSCOW (RIA Novosti): Japanese fighters accompanying the Russian Tu-95MS during their joint patrol with Chinese bombers over the Pacific Ocean flew close enough to be caught on camera.
In a video published by the Russian Defense Ministry, Japanese fighters are approaching the Tu-95 ms at almost the same distance as the accompanying Russian fighters. At one point, the operator zooms in the image so that the outline of the pilot in the cockpit of a Japanese aircraft becomes visible.

The ministry noted that the goal of the joint mission is “to develop Russian-Chinese relations, comprehensive partnership, further increase the level of interaction between the armed forces of the two countries, improve their capabilities to conduct joint actions, and strengthen global strategic stability.”
The ministry added that the event was held as part of the implementation of the provisions of the military cooperation plan for 2021 and is not directed against third countries.
Earlier, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin on the successful completion of tasks during joint air patrols by long-range aviation aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Chinese military aviation over the waters of the Japanese and East China Seas. As the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov specified, at certain stages of the route, strategic missile carriers accompanied the F-16 and F-15 of the Japanese Air Force.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said that the patrol was carried out by an air group consisting of two strategic bombers Tu-95ms of the Russian Aerospace Forces and two strategic bombers “Hun-6k” of the PLA Air Force.
