Chinese envoy, Khusro Bakhtiar discuss pace of CPEC projects

ISLAMABAD: Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing on Wednesday called on Minister for Planning and Development Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.

Matters of mutual interest, progress and pace of work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects and other issues were discussed in the meeting.

On the occasion, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar directed the authorities to expedite work on CPEC and added that they would finalize the master plan for Gwadar soon. He said that all the stakeholders had agreed on the master plan for Gwadar.

The minister further said that it was an ideal environment for trilateral investment in Gwadar.

Earlier, stressing the need for early completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday directed the Board of Investment’s chairman to present a comprehensive plan for swift development of special economic zones (SEZs) in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Khan had said Pak-China cooperation in industrial development and agriculture sector would help realise the country’s true potential in these sectors. He emphasized the need for expediting work on various projects under CPEC.
