City patrolling force to be extended to other districts

PESHAWAR: The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Salahuddin Khan has said that due to the hallmark performance of City Patrolling Force in respect of crime control and public service delivery its strength would be doubled in Peshawar as well as be expended in other district of the province very soon.

Addressing a ceremony on the occasion of 1st year completion of the City Patrolling Force held at Malik Saad Shaheed police lines Peshawar here Thursday, the IGP maintained that keeping in view the excellent performance of City Patrolling Force its strength would be doubled in Peshawar as well as be extended to other district of the province.

Members of Dispute Resolution Councils, City Elites, Media representatives and high ranking police officers largely attended the function. The IGP informed that it was a matter of great pride and satisfaction that City Patrolling Force was fighting shoulder to shoulder with capital police against crime as well as providing service to the community.

The IGP disclosed that due to under construction of Bus Rapid Transit mega project in Peshawar order for 50 motorcycles has been issued enabling the city patrolling force to perform duty on link roads and on important points to react to any emergency promptly.

Referring to the Annual performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police,the IGP said that the crime and terrorism incident have touched its lowest ebb in the current year as compared to the last 10 years.

A total of 258 incidents of terrorism had taken place last year while this year 126 case registered which is 51 percent lower from the corresponded year. He further elaborated that target killing incidents decreased to 67 percent and dacoity and rubbery upto 34 percent as compared to the last year.

The IGP further informed that summary for the consultant of Safe City Project has been sent to the provincial government for approval and all safety commissions would be established under the police Act 2017 and will start functioning very soon.

The IGP said that despite matchless achievements of police against crime and terrorism the police was not feel complacent and was striving hard for best public service delivery and better policing with more zeal and spirit. He said that no efforts would be spared for establishment of ideal society which is almost free from crime.

The City Patrolling Force during the last one year checked 5325 suspects, 4500SEVPs, 4200 Schools and Colleges security, 3500 traffic jams cleared, 4430 CRVS, 9504 VVS, 3468 IVS, 70 places Geo-Tagged, 500 rented houses and 500 street crimes including snatching and lifting prevented.

On this occasion the IGP on excellent performance awarded City Patrolling Force officers including DSP Usman Khan, Sub Inspector Niaz Ali and Assistant Sub Inspectors Fayaz Gul, Imdad Khan, Amjad Khan and Riaz Khan with cash prizes and commendation certificates.

Later on the IGP cut a cake on the successful completion of one year of the City Patrolling Force.
