CJP expresses over AG’s no-show in the Article 62 case hearing

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has expressed displeasure over the absence of Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf in determination of disqualification period case under Article 62 of the Constitution on Monday.

CJP Saqib Nisar is headed five-member larger bench of apex court is hearing several petitions to determine the disqualification period after being disqualified under Article 62 (1) (f).

Soon as the proceeding began, CJP inquired about the whereabouts of the attorney general and in reply the additional attorney general (AAG) informed the court the AG is in Lahore and will submit a reply in writing.

The CJP showed displeasure over his absence and asked that without informing and taking permission the court, how he could travel to another city.

Later the court was also informed that AG is also going to abroad on Tuesday tomorrow and the apex court then imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on Ausaf.

Later, the AAG assured the court that the AG will appear in the court at 4:30pm and pleaded to quash the fine. The chief justice approved the plea.
