CJP: Judges, courts not immune from mistakes

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has issued notices to Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Pakistan Bar Council and Supreme Court Bar (SCB) in a case pertaining to judicial powers under article 184/3 of the constitution besides directing for clubbing all the petitions.

A 3-member bench of SC  presided over by  Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar took up for hearing the case pertaining to judicial powers on Friday.

The CJP remarked “ we want powers under article 184/3 should not be unguided. We want to get regulate our powers too.

We want to see whether we are not committing some mistake in exercising the powers under article 184/3.

Judges and courts are not immune from the mistakes. What should be the ambit  of article 184/3.

Therefore we will appoint 2- to 3 senior lawyers as amicus curiae.

AGP said he will assist the court on the matter of ambit of article 184/3.

The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.
