LAHORE: Supreme Court showed concern over the alarming increase of arsenic quantities in drinking water in Punjab on Tuesday.
The apex court expressed its concern while hearing a suo motu notice regarding provision of safe drinking water in the province.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Mian Saqib Nisar asked the Punjab Chief Secretary, Zahid Saeed that what is the Punjab government doing for the health and providing quality of water to the masses in Punjab.
CJP also asking about the education and asked the Chief Secretary Punjab, what is the quality of water they are providing to the students in the private colleges?
CJP Mian Saqib Nisar directed the chief secretary to postpone all his activities and accompany the bench for a week while it was hearing cases in the Lahore registry.
He said that the SC had made the government take actions in Karachi and now it was Punjab’s turn.
