CJP vows to protect basic human rights

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has announced to protect the basic human rights.

Addressing the Judicial Conference in Islamabad on Saturday, he said that it is job of elected representatives to run the state.

“The judges will not allow violation of the constitution,” he said.

The CJP said that the parliament has power to legislate. “We respect the legislation process. The judiciary is the protector of the constitution and can examine the violation of the constitution committed by either legislature or executive,” he said.

He said that the provision of justice is the responsibility of the judiciary. “We will not let anyone to seize basic human rights,” he added.

“We are a guardian of basic rights of the people of Pakistan and justice dispensation is our basic responsibility,” he said.

Saqib Nisar announced to form an implementation committee on the recommendation of the Judicial Conference.

“Resolutions are adopted in Pakistan but the actual problem is of their implementation,” he said, requesting Justice Asif Khosa to head the implementation committee.
