Class based education system termed destructive for the nation

TIMERGARA:  The Islami Jamiat Tulba Pakistan (IJT), a students’ wing of Jamaat-i-Islami central secretary general Muhammad Aamir has said that class based education was the main hindrance in the improvement of education and creation of uniform society in Pakistan.

Addressing a welcome party arranged for the new comers at the main campus of University of Malakand (UoM) here on Monday night, the IJT leader said that class based education system in the country was counter-productive. He said the IJT had planned to hold a big students’ convention at Peshawar on Nov, 2 that would prove a milestone for gaining students’ rights.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister for finance Muzafar Syed, former MNA Bakhtiar Maani, IJT provincial nazim Shahkar Aziz, UoM nazim Ziaullah Khan and general secretary Salman Khan besides hundreds of IJT workers attended the party.

Muhammad Aamir said there had been 26 educational systems working in Pakistan today that created class based society. He said 70 per cent of the total population was constituted by youth for which uniform educational system was need of the day. He demanded of the government to restore students’ unions and their elections so that leadership could be produced on the grass root level. The IJT leader also demanded increase in education budget and decrease in students’ admission fees across the country.

Speaking on the occasion provincial minister for finance Muzafar Syed said hundreds of thousands students in the province were being provided with free text books. He said that more than 40000 teachers were recruited during the last four years that showed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government commitment to education. He said that only through quality education the youth could compete with the world in the fields of science and technology.
