Cleanliness campaign kicks off in Landikotal

LANDI KOTAL: A week long cleanliness drive began in Landi Kotal Bazaar on Monday. The hygienic activity was initiated by Welfare Organization Landi Kotal(WOL) with collaboration of local political administration, Anjuman-e-Tajran Landi Kotal Bazaar.

Banners inscribed with sayings regarding cleanness were displayed at different points of the Bazaar to impart knowledge of the campaign. Prior to it, an awareness walk was also conducted in the bazaar that was participated by Tehsildar Landi Kotal Shams-ul-Islam, naib Tehsildar Bazaar Zakha Khel, Ahmad Ali, Chairman WOL Banaris Khan, President Al-Khedmat Foundation Khyber Agency Qari Said Hakeem, Sanetry inspector Ahmad Shah Shinwari, President Bazaar Union Haji Lal Rahim beside large numbers of political workers, shopkeepers and tribesmen.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Shams-ul-Islam said that the campaign was started on the first day of 2018 with intention to realize the masses to make cleanness habit and continue it at the end of the year and on ward. He highlighted historical aspect of Landi Kotal Bazaar and proclaimed it Spain like Bazaar in sense of its design however he added our negligence could not retain its beauty and it turned it into heap of garbage.

He urged upon the shopkeepers to put their garbage in dustbin and encourage the neatness drive by joining it to keep the area and environment clean and healthy. Chairman of the Welfare Organization, Banaris Khan while sharing details of the drive said that the campaign was comprised of many phase and in first stage preference was given to the Bazaar and in next part it would gradually extend to other rural areas of the Landi Kotal.
