Cleanliness drive kicks off

TIMERGARA: The Balambat tehsil municipal administration on Thursday launched cleanliness campaign in the area in order to keep the soil and atmosphere free of pollution.

A walk in this regard was held in the Rabat bazaar the participants of which carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans regarding cleanliness. The Balambat tehsil nazim Imran ud Dun led the walk. District councilor from the area Shad Nawaz Khan, extra assistant commissioner Imran Khan, TMO Balambat Shafiq Ahmad, tehsil councilor Ubaidullah, local traders and area elders took part in the walk. Speaking on the occasion Imran ud Din said that cleanliness was part of the Muslims’s faith.

He said the TMA was committed to keep the environment of the area clean and green that needed public cooperation. He said the tehsil administration had planned to buy a tractor and provide dust bins to all small and big bazaars for proper disposal of the garbage. The nazim said the cleanliness drive would continue until all the bazaars and streets in the area were cleaned of filth.

Other speakers highlighted the importance of cleanliness for life of all living things, saying that several diseases spread due to dirt and unhygienic environment. They asked the masses to cooperate with government officials in keeping clean their environment. The participants collected garbage and plastic bags from the roadside drains and disposed them up.
