CM apprises NCC through video link: 15000 Afghan refugees returned from Torkham

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan, through video link attended a meeting of National Coordination Committee held under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday.

The meeting reviewed in detail the latest situation of corona across the country. While updating the forum regarding the latest situation of COVID-19 in the province and steps taken by the provincial government to contain its outbreak, the Chief Minister informed that 152 individuals quarantined at Doran Poor Peshawar had been sent to their homes after completion of 14 days compulsory quarantine period adding that all the Zaireen quarantined at Daranzinda D.I. Khan have also been sent to their homes whereas individuals quarantined at Gomal Medical College D.I. Khan are also being sent to their homes.

The Chief Minister further informed the meeting that around 15 thousand Afghan Nationals had been sent to Afghanistan since the Torkham Border has temporarily been opened. Regarding the opening of essential industries in the province, Mahmood Khan informed that cement industry had been opened in the province subject to the observance of safety protocols and added that the provincial government was also planning to open the Tobacco, Match and Steel Industries for which standard operating procedures were being developed.

Meanwhile, Emergency Control Room (ECR) established at CM Secretariat on the special directives of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan is working round the clock to coordinate all kinds of activities and emergencies regarding Corona Virus Pandemic.

The ECR vigilantly monitors the developing corona situation across the provinces and keeps close liaison with the relevant departments and district administrations to ensure prompt and timely response to any kind of emergencies. Staff of the Chief Minister Secretariat has been deputed to work 24/7 in the ECR in different shifts.

The ECR also entertains public complaints regarding corona and takes up such complaints with the relevant quarters for immediate redressal. Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, through the ECR personally monitors all the corona related activities across the province.

According the available details, the ECR has received more than 200 Corona related public complaints from across the province and the same have been taken up with the concerned departments and districts administrations for timely response. The complainants have showed their full satisfaction on the timely response of the ECR for the redressal of their complaints their and then.
