PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has formally approved the appointment of a number officers and officials from BPS-7 to BPS-19 in the newly established autonomous body Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Regulatory Authority (KPRA) in order to increase revenue of the government and streamline working of the Excise & Taxation Department.
The post sanctioned are one each Collector, Additional Collector, five Deputy Directors, nine Assistant Directors, 11 Assistant Collectors and PRO. However their joining for duty would subject to fulfillment of the codal formalities including the medical certificates.
The Chief Minister also approved honoraria equal to one month basic pay for the 15 members Selection Board of the authority for completing the process of these appointments speedily and strictly on merit basis. Similarly he also directed for release of Rs.26 million to the authority for purchase of vehicles to improve efficiency of KPRA.
He was chairing the review meeting on performance of KPRA at his office CM Secretariat Peshawar. Provincial Minister for Finance Muzafar Said Advocate, Minister for Excise & Taxation Mian Jamshedudin Kakakhel, Secretary Excise Javed Khan Marwat, Secretary Planning & Development Syed Shahab Ali Shah, DG KPRA Tahir Orakzai and other concerned authorities attended.
Pervez Khattak asked the high ups of Excise department and KPRA to initiate revolutionary measures for vivid enhancement in revenues of the province.
Similarly he further directed both the excise department and KPRA to ensure 100% achievement of the set targets and leave no stone unturned in 24 hour performance of their obligations. He also asked all the authorities and boards in the province to submit the annual performance and audit reports to the cabinet and provincial assembly on regular basis and ensure compliance on it accordingly.
The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that KPRA brought about considerable improvement in ratio of the revenue collection, promoted transparency at every level and closed all the loopholes of corruption and bribery in the department. He also lauded training of over 200 officers as withholding agents, introducing desk audit system and other such reforms in the department.
