PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to various areas of the city to personally review the arrangements made by the local administration to keep markets, shopping plazas, restaurants, wedding Halls, Parks and other places of public gathering close with the aim to maintain social distancing and minimize public gathering in view of the possible outbreak of Corona virus.
The Chief Minister visited Gulbahar, Nistherabad, Hashtnagri, Qissa Khawani, University road and other places without any protocol and security arrangements. While expressing his satisfaction on the measures and arrangements of local administration to keep the public places close, the Chief Minister said that the provincial government has decided to keep all such public places closed as a preventive measure but however groceries stores, Medical stores and other shops dealing with necessary items day today use will remain opened round the clock.
Mahmood Khan once again made an appeal to the general public to remain at their homes, avoid public places, minimize people to people contacts, maintain social distancing and strictly follow other precautionary measures.
He said that the overall situation of the province with regard to Corona outbreak was good enough and added that the provincial government is put in all its efforts to further improve the situation.
He urged upon the public for maximum cooperation to make the government’s efforts to fight the pandemic fruitful. Mahmood Khan expressed his gratitude to the owners of shopping plazas, restaurants and markets for their support extended to the government for keeping these public places closed and hoped that they will continue their support in the coming days as well.
The Chief Minister highly lauded the role of civil administration, police, Army, Rescue 1122 and health workers in fighting against the Corona virus and said that better team work and coordinated efforts would definitely yield fruitful results.
