CM presides meeting to finalize media strategy

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan presided over a meeting to finalize media strategy for the province after the practical steps for the merger and integration of newly merged district and its people into the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai, Advisor to CM Ajmal Wazir, Federal Minister Murad Saeed and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the overall media strategy after the merger of the newly merged districts of erstwhile FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and made a number of decisions in this regard.  Addressing the meting the Chief Minister directed for integrated media communication strategy for the provincial government in order to inform the people about various reforms, legislations, developmental activities, rehabilitation of newly merged districts and efficient services in all sectors after the merger.

Mahmood Khan directed to immediately post officers of information department for the dedicated public relationing in the newly merged districts.  He also directed to provide additional office accommodation for the headquarter and officers for field duties in the newly merged districts. He said that Swat and other districts after the merger got benefit of mainstreaming. When these areas became part of the province and country these areas started getting benefit of the merger, he became the Chief Minister and others of the area got gubernatorial and ministerial slots of the province. The newly merged districts would get their share on the same lines in future, he added.

The Chief Minister said that a comprehensive developmental mainstreaming and integration plan has been finalized for the benefit of the people. Hopefully our efforts would not only lead to the mainstreaming and integration of the people and areas of the newly merged districts but would open these areas for the development. At the end of the day, the people of these areas would have developmental activities in terms of agriculture and tourism boost, industrialization and integrated trade and commercial activities that would provide jobs to the jobless and overall prosperity for the whole of the region, he added.

Mahmood Khan directed the information department to be ready for the futuristic challenging responsibilities after the merger of area of the erstwhile FATA.
