CM: Skyline parking plaza to lead towards overall beautification of Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Formally inaugurating the first skyline parking plaza here at Namak Mandi, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan said that it would contribute to boosting tourism and industrialization leading to the overall beautification of Peshawar.

He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of foundation stone laying ceremony of Parking Plaza named as City District Parking skyline.

He also responded various questions raised by media. MNA Haji Shaukat Ali, Special Assistant to CM on IT Kamran Bangash, District Nazim Peshawar Arbab Asim, MPAs Muhammad Asif Khan, Malik Wajid Khan, District Naib Nazim, Town Nazimeen, District members, Councilors and other government officials were present on the occasion.

The plaza would comprise seven floors that included basement, semi basement, ground floor, first floor, commercial units and vehicle parking areas on the remaining portions of the plaza which would have the capacity of parking 198 vehicles.

The Chief Minister said that the project was a unique in nature and an appropriate stride towards creating the culture of proper parking and resolving the traffic related problems in Peshawar. This will also promote food, restaurant and investment leading to tourism in the area.

He assured to resolve all the traffic related problems in Namak Mandi on priority basis. He appreciated the District Government for a positive step and assured to support the District Government Peshawar in the Developmental and beautification plan.

It is the city of the whole of the province where the people from all corners of the province comes and resides thus it is the city of the whole of the province and we have a collective responsibility to its development and beautification, he added.

He said his doors were open to the trading community. He is a public representative, representing the whole of the province as Chief Minister and wished that we should collective contribute to the public welfare.

He said the federal government’s transfer of Rs. 20 billion would reach the provincial kitty on account of net hydel profit in the next week. We own BRT and would ensure its completion under timeline to be softly inaugurated on March 23rd, he was optimistic.

Responding to the recent escalation between Pakistan and India, the Chief Minister said that the people of this region have rich traditions, their land has strategic location and they have martial blood always stayed in the state of war like situation and defended the motherland.

He appreciated the people for standing by the Armed forces and Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The people of this region wanted peace but if anything went wrong or the enemy made even a brow beating, we would tell them how to defend the motherland, he added.

He said that the Prime Minister Imran Khan had the sagacity and the wisdom in making a prudent decision to avert the danger of a full time war between India and Pakistan, for, he deserved to be appreciated.

Regarding another question, the Chief Minister assured the transfer of Rs. 20 billion due against the federal government on net hydel profit that will improve the fiscal position of the province.

He said that BRT was launched by his previous government and he owned it adding that it was initiated for the public welfare and the people’s reservations would be removed.

It was implemented by the PDA and his government was also monitoring it adding that its soft inauguration would take place on March 23rd.

He would not allow any delay and will take action if the project was further delayed.

He also directed the WSSP to review the over billing and resolve the people grievances.

On another question the Chief Minister said that he had directed the IGP to bring to justice the killers of Afzal Kohistani and the culprits would be brought to justice soon.
