Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has directed the provincial health department to ensure presence of Basic Health Facilities and staff in the Basic Health Units of the provincial capital in order to provide primary Healthcare care to citizens at their doorsteps.
The Chief Minister has stated that reforms in the Basic Health units are of paramount importance as they are the first option for meeting everyday healthcare needs thereby reducing the burden on major hospitals.
These policy directives were given by the Chief Minister earlier while chairing a meeting regarding the Peshawar health plan at the Chief Minister’s house. The meeting was also attended by Minister Health Hisham Inam Ullah Khan, Minister Finance Taimoor Salim Jhagra, Advisor to Chief Minister for merged areas Ajmal Wazir, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shahab Ali Shah, Secretary Health, Secretary Finance and other high ranking officials.
The Chief Minister was informed that timely release of funds, provision of medicine on monthly basis, efficient monitoring system and regular meetings of the District Health Officers with the staff of Basic Health care units are of prime importance in order to ensure effective delivery of healthcare to citizens.
The Chief Minister stated that the present government is taking sincere efforts to strengthen the Basic Health Units and that the present plan for Peshawar city will prove to be a significant policy decisions in the right direction.
The Chief Minister added that similar policies and reforms will also be taken for all the Basic Health Units throughout the province so that every citizen is able to avail healthcare at their doorsteps thereby reducing the burden on major hospitals.
Furthermore Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan will inaugurate the ‘Insaaf Rozgar Scheme’ on Monday to help eradicate unemployment and poverty in the terrorism affected areas of the province.
Under this scheme, the skilled and degree holding unemployed people in the age group of 18 to 50 years would get interest free loans from Rs50,000 to 1 million.
Technical handed people would get from 50,000 to 500000 whereas others would get fifty thousand to three lac rupees.
