Colliers trapped as mine collapses in Balochistan

BALOCHISTAN: A coalmine was collapsed on Sunday in Machh area of Bolan district in Balochistan and trapped two coal miners in it.

According to media, the coal miners on their own launched a rescue operation to rescue their colleagues.

The area is located some 50 km southeast of Quetta. According to National Commission for Human Rights Pakistan (NHCR), Pakistan is ranked 7th in the world as per the coal reserves.

NHCR report stated, “The rising number of deaths in mining accidents highlights the low level of safety in the Balochistan coalmines, it is estimated that 80 coal miners die in Balochistan every year.”
