LAHORE: The Federal Minister of Commerce – Mr. Mohammad Pervaiz Malik inaugurated the 2nd largest event of Southeast Asia ‘Pakistan Mega Leather Show 2018’ (PMLS18) on 28th January, 2018.
The Ambassador for Italy – His Excellency, Dr. Stefano Pontecorvo, specially participated in this grand event and interacted with entrepreneurs, businessmen and buyer from Pakistan and abroad. The Federal Minister of Commerce congratulated the members of Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) and Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) on the success of this event. The minister also visited the stalls and interacted with national and international exhibitors.
The PMLS18 is being held from 27th till 29th of January, 2018 at Lahore International Expo Centre. The revolutionary 3-day event displays more than 100 stalls and is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors, providing them access to vital information and networking opportunities with the national and international customers.
The Pakistan Mega Leather Show is a series of vibrant, annual events promoting a wide range of leather products; including Footwear, Garments, Gloves, etc. It is jointly orchestrated by four highly resourceful industrial associations including; footwear, leather goods, tanneries, gloves and leather garments. The PMLS 2018 promises to be the biggest exhibition of leather-based products in the country’s history.
The foreign exhibitors also include many Chinese organizations, who have shown keen interest in the growing leather industry of Pakistan. The event also comprises of B2B meetings, that are to be held on all three days. This marvelous event is also being attended by many International Footwear Journalists, Footwear designers, buyers of footwear and leather-goods and Pakistani consumers.
The Chairman of Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) – Mr. FarrukhSaleem and Chairman Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) – Mr. AmanullahAftab, during the Inauguration ceremony, commented on the great potential of Pakistan’s leather industry and stated that; “Pakistan Mega Leather Show 2018 is a great success. We have received overwhelming response from entrepreneurs, investors and all other stakeholders of this industry. PMLS 2018 is the second largest footwear and Leather exhibition of Southeast Asia. Production and tanning of leather along with manufacturing of leather-goods is the second biggest export-oriented industry in the manufacturing sector of Pakistan. The rapid growth of this industry has attracted many international buyers to invest into training facilities for this labor-intensive industry. These investments will improve the technical skills and productivity of the laborers involved in manufacturing leather goods”.
The Pakistan Footwear Manufacturers Association (PFMA) in collaboration with Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) has organized PMLS 2018 to promote this robust industrial sector globally. The senior members of both the bodies were present at the event. The exhibition was attended by; Mr. FarrukhSaleem (Chairman PFMA), Mr. AbidHafeez (Sr. Vice Chairman PFMA) & Convener-PMLS-2018, Mr. AmanUllahAftab (Chairman PTA), Mr. Mansoor Iqbal (Sr. Vice chairman PTA) and Mr. Muhammad Musaddiq (PTA) Co-Convener-PMLS-2018.
The forum provides a viable platform for nurturing stronger ties or collaborations between the allied industries of the Leather Sector of Pakistan. It also features a special exhibition of the high-quality products being produced by the leather Manufacturing industry of Pakistan. The PMLS 2018 has attracted potential buyers and investors from China, India, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Cyprus, USA, UAE, Spain and Tunisia.
Given the sheer scale of this show and its benefits for these businesses, maximum participation from the Government sector is also expected. The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industries and other regulatory institutions are providing unprecedented support for this event too.
