Construction of two new standard schools begins in Faryab

FARYAB (TOLOnews): Following a TOLOnews report on the lack of standard buildings for 155 schools in Faryab, the Directorate of Education, in collaboration with an aid organization, has recently initiated the construction of two schools in this province. These two schools will cost over 27 million Afghanis and will be built to high standards.

Mohammad Tahir Jawad, the head of Faryab’s Directorate of Education, stated that they aim for balanced development in the province’s education sector and strive to address the challenges of inadequate standard buildings, professional teachers, and other obstacles faced by students.

Regarding this, the head of Faryab’s Directorate of Education said, “The two schools we have laid the foundation for are in Dawlat Abad district and Maimana city, both with a budget of approximately 27 million Afghanis. One school we inaugurated has a budget of about 14.2 million Afghanis, and a total of 1,141 students will benefit from these three schools.”

The residents of Faryab welcome the commencement of construction of these two schools but also demand the appointment of professional teachers, provision of safe drinking water, and more facilities for these schools.

They said that due to the lack of standard buildings, students of these two schools have been studying under the shade of trees, in mosques, and private guest houses.

Sayed Nasiruddin, a resident of Faryab, said, “Previously, students were studying in rented houses and under tents. We are now pleased that the Directorate of Education has laid the foundation for the school.”

Additionally, the construction of a primary school in Qaramqul district of Faryab, costing over 14 million Afghanis, has been completed and handed over for use. The students of this school were also previously studying in open spaces.

Mohammad Rafi, a teacher, said, “As you know, our students were studying in rented houses or under the shade of trees. Now, this school has been built, providing us with great convenience. It is a suitable environment for students to study in.”

Abdul Basir, another teacher, said, “We are happy now that our school has been built. It is a standard and good school. Previously, we were teaching in a rented house.”

According to the Directorate of Education of Faryab, there are currently 498 schools in the province, with approximately 305,000 students engaged in education.
