Contempt case: Apex court directs police to present Faisal Raza Abidi in next hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan directed the police officials to present the former senator Faisal Raza Abidi in the next hearing in the contempt of court case on Wednesday.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, headed a three-member bench of Supreme court and it heard the case. CJP Nisar rejected the private TV apology for airing the Faisal Raza Abidi’s anti judiciary speeches and remarks and issued a contempt of court to them.

The bench shows displeasure over the Abidi’s absence in the court and CJP asked that where Faisal Raza Abidi is and why he is not in the court.

CJP remarked that the officials of private news channel should be ashamed for airing such kind of remarks of Abidi and asked that is this freedom of speech.

The private channel’s lawyer said that they have already request for forgiveness and sacked the anchorperson. He went on to say that they are also ready to apologize in their program.

“We are accepting your apology,” remarked the judge. The hearing of the case was adjourned till May 3.
