Contempt case: ECP issues show-cause notice to Fawad Chaudhry

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Tuesday issued a show cause notice to former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry in the contempt of election commission case.

A five-member ECP bench, headed by the chief election commissioner (CEC), conducted the hearing of the contempt of election commission case.

Fawad Chaudhry’s lawyer Faisal Chaudhry did not appear before the ECP bench. Faisal Chaudhry’s associate lawyer appeared and told the bench that Faisal Chaudhry was busy in the Sessions Court.

He also submitted the cause list of the Session Court to the ECP bench.

“This is an excuse. We wait for Faisal Chaudhry. If he does not come, we will issue show cause notice,” the ECP bench said.

The ECP bench issued a show cause notice to Fawad Chaudhry as his lawyer Faisal Chaudhry did not come.

The ECP ordered Fawad Chaudhry to appear in person at the next hearing and adjourned further hearing of the case till June 15 next.
