Convocation of PICO held; medals, degrees distributed

PESHAWAR: The 2nd convocation of Pakistan Institute of Community Ophthalmology (PICO), Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar was held on Thursday as 14 Gold Medals and 50 degrees were distributed among the students by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jagra.

Vice Chancellor Khyber Medical University Mr. Arshad Javed and other distinguished professionals from medical healthcare and education community, parents, students and dignitaries form all walk of life participate in the convocation.

In addition, 02 distinguished professionals Prof: Dr.Shad Mohammad and Prof. Dr. Aman Khan was also awarded Life time Achievement Award for their exemplary and commendable work in the field of eye health care in the province.

The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa addressed the participants in which he felicitated the students, faculty members and wished them for their better and successful future. He also appreciated the services and achievements of PICO for eye health care in the provinces.

In his speech he stressed upon that good and friendly attitude towards the patients from doctors and other health professionals will help to restore faith in medical profession of the general mass along with friendly environment in health facilities.

He further said “knowledge is a powerful agent of change and the creation and application of new knowledge has to be contributed for the growth of societies and for the welfare of the people”.

He also encouraged youth to take steps forward and utilize their abilities and strength to their maximum to eradicate poverty, injustice from the society and lead the country to prosperous destiny.

Vice Chancellor KMU also addressed the audience and appreciated graduated students for their academic achievements

At the end, Director PICO, Prof. Dr. Nasir Saeed presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the institute in the year 2017.
