ISLAMABAD : Eight police personnel, including two DSPs and one inspector, were injured after the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) operation against encroachments in several parts of Islamabad on Monday turned the area into a war zone.

Offering resistance to the operation, the residents of Sanyari, Mera Barri and Chauntra pelted the police personnel as well as the CDA employees with stones and even did not shy away from firing at them.

The mob also damaged several government vehicles, while police, on the other hand, fired shells to disperse the crowd.

Tough resistance put up by the protestors at one time even forced the cops to retreat.

The injured were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
