Coronavirus: Nadra, jirgas suspend in Khyber district

LANDI KOTAL: As precautionary measure to halt spread of coronavirus in Khyber, the district administration suspended holding of jirgas and shut down National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) offices here in LandiKotal, Jamrud and Bara on Monday.

According to the administration officials on the direction of Assistant Commissioners of LandiKotal, Torkham, Jamrud and Bara, the Nadra offices were closed down and the staff members were asked to suspend their activities with immediate effect.

Organizing of official jirgas and public gatherings were also restricted and people were asked to reduce public interactions and strictly follow the preventive measures prescribed by the health officials. On the other hand the Torkham border was suspended on Sunday at 12:00 pm for all kind of movement and as per official in Torkham, last day approximately 21000 people cross the border.

On Monday morning Torkham border was presented a deserted look and only forces troops could be witnessed who executed their duties while safeguarding the border. According the official report so far 91, COVID 19 positive cases have been identified in Pakistan.
