Corruption references: Accountability court adjourns hearing until 1pm against Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing corruption references against Nawaz Sharif and his children adjourned the hearing until 1pm after Khawaja Harris, Counsel of former premier informed the court that Islamabad High Court will announce its decision on their plea to club their references.

Earlier, Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif with his daughter Maryam appeared on Monday at the Federal Judicial Complex, where corruption hearings against him are under way. Nawaz’s son-in-law, MNA Capt (retd) Safdar, also appeared before the accountability court.

Judge Mohammad Bashir directed the court staff to remain in contact with the IHC registrar office to ensure the judgment of today’s hearing provide to them as soon as possible.

Nawaz is facing three corruption references in the accountability court filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case which led to his disqualification.

Nawaz and his sons Hussain and Hasan are named in all three references whereas Maryam and Safdar are only named in one corruption reference.
