Counselor Chollet reaffirms US’s strong relationship with Poland

WASHINGTON: Counselor of the Department Derek Chollet traveled to Warsaw to reaffirm the strong relationship the United States has with our NATO Ally Poland.  He met with Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz, Secretary of State for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Piotr Naimski, and Marshal of the Senate, Senator Tomasz Grodzki to advocate a cooperative approach to enhancing Polish and regional energy security as well as addressing the climate crisis.

He also expressed appreciation for Poland’s role in countering Russian aggression and promoting democracy in Belarus. Counselor Chollet raised the importance of further strengthening Poland’s democratic institutions and protecting media freedoms as core elements of a vibrant democracy. Finally, he discussed shared concerns about the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

While there, Counselor Chollet also met with business leaders to strengthen bilateral economic ties and civil society representatives to discuss our mutual commitment to democratic values.
