F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad has extended the physical remands of Shahnawaz Amir – prime suspect in Sara Inam murder case – and his father Ayaz Amir on Monday.

The judge of District and Sessions Court, Islamabad extended Shahnawaz’s physical remand for three days while he extended his father Ayaz Amir’s physical remand by one more day.

Islamabad police on Friday arrested Shahnawaz for allegedly murdering his Canadian national wife Sara Inam over a ‘family issue’ with the help of dumbbells, a day after she arrived in Pakistan from Dubai.

Sara Inam, 37, was the third wife of the alleged murderer. The incident took place at a farmhouse located in the capital’s Shahzad Town suburb where the suspect lived along with his mother.

The police on Saturday produced Shahnawaz in the court of judicial magistrate and obtained his two-day physical remand.

On Sunday, a local court in the federal capital also remanded Ayaz Amir in police custody for one day.

The FIR which was registered on the complaint of Shahzad Town sub-inspector Nawazish Ali Khan stated that when the police team reached the farmhouse where the murder had taken place they were received by the mother of the suspect who told them that her son had “murdered his wife during a scuffle”.

She informed the police that her son was still present in the house. The police entered the house and arrested the suspect whose hands were “soaked in blood” at the time of the arrest.

During investigation, suspect Shahnawaz Amir told the police that he had murdered his wife with a dumbbell and hid her body in a bathtub in the bathroom.
