F.P. Report

LAHORE: An accountability court hearing Ashiana Housing scheme case on Monday has indicted Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif and other accused.

According to reports, Shehbaz Shairf and other accused appeared before the court and AC Judge Syed Najamul Hassan heard the case.

During the hearing, the judge framed charges against former CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and other accused.

However, Shehbaz Sharif and other accused denied the charges and termed the reference filed against him ‘false’.

The defense lawyer Amjad Pervez, in his arguments said statements of secretary housing and PLDC are not part of the reference.

The court after summoning the witnesses in the case, adjourned the hearing of the case until March 4.

The judge, while showing his resentment over non-appearance of Shehbaz Sharif in the last hearing of case that took place on February 7, had remarked that he was not granted the right to a medical so he wouldn’t appear in court.

“My client is facing problem of backbone and advised to avoid long travel,” Shehbaz counsel said in his reply.

The judge said he was fit and sound according to the report, “why don’t we summon the doctor, who had advised him from refraining to travel,” the judge said.

Earlier on February 15, Shehbaz Sharif was released from sub-jail; a day after the Lahore High Court granted him bail in Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases.
