ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PML-N MNA-elect Raja Khurram Shahzad Nawaz in connection with a case registered at Sahala police station against PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and other for holding an Azad March.
Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi heard the case and cancelled the non-bailable warrants issue for former federal minister Asad Umar and Ali Nawaz Awan.
The magistrate issued the warrants for Khurram Shahzad Nawaz for not appearing in the court despite being summoned.
The court approved Asad Umar and Ali Nawaz Awan’s pleas for warrants cancellation after they voluntarily surrendered to the court.
Both also submitted new pleas for acquittal in the case, on which the court sought arguments on February 26.
On Friday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had restored the victory notifications of three PML-N candidates who won seats from Islamabad’s National Assembly constituencies of NA-46, NA-47 and NA-48.
The electoral watchdog upheld the victory of PML-N’s Anjum Aqeel from NA-46, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry from NA-47 and Raja Khurram Nawaz from NA-48.
