KARACHI : The District and Session Court West in Karachi on Tuesday accepted bail petition filed by detained chairman of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) leader Afaq Ahmad and ordered to release him.
The court granted him bail in a third case filed against him for setting a truck on fire in Surjani Town of the megacity.
In its order the court directed him to submit surety bonds worth Rs100,000. The case was registered against Afaq Ahmad at Surjani Town Police Station.
On Friday, an anti-terrorism court granted post-arrest bail to the MQM-H chief in two cases pertaining to allegedly instigating people to torch heavy vehicles in the city.
Earlier on February 22, 2025, a judicial magistrate remanded Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) chairman Afaq Ahmed in judicial custody in a third arson case registered against him.
The jail authorities brought the MQM-H chairman before Judicial Magistrate (West) Nasir Ahmed Chandio.
Representing Mr Ahmed, lawyers Hashmat Khaild and Javed Chhatari argued that their client had been implicated in the present case on political grounds.
