Court postpones Pervaiz Elahi’s indictment in graft case

LAHORE: An accountability court (AC) in Lahore on Thursday put off the indictment of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and others in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference of receiving billions of rupees in kickbacks in development projects until February 14.

Earlier during the hearing, copies of challan were distributed among the suspects.

Before that, the judge ordered the production of Elahi, Muhammad Khan Bhatti and others in the court for indictment, saying they would all be indicted in the case today come what may. “I have received a letter which says that the PTI president is presently on bed rest. The fact is that doctors and the paramedical staff are hands in gloves with the suspects,” the judge said, and asked where the jail superintendent was whom he had issued a show-cause notice.

The court then adjourned the case’s hearing until February 14.
