Court rejects Imran’s acquittal plea in female judge threat case

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: The district and sessions court in Islamabad has rejected PTI Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan’s acquittal plea in female judge threat case.

Pronouncing the reserved verdict on Wednesday afternoon, Civil Judge Muhammad Mureed Abbas adjourned the hearing of the case until December 20.

Earlier in the day, the district and sessions court reserved its verdict in the judge threat case.Judge Mureed Abbas reserved the verdict after hearing concluding arguments from both the sides.

Prosecutor Rizwan Abbai concluded his arguments in the case while Imran Khan’s lawyer Khalid Yousaf was also present in the courtroom.

Imran Khan’s chief lawyer Salman Safdar had already submitted his final arguments on Tuesday. He also filed an application for PTI chief’s acquittal in the case.

The charges against the PTI chairman were related to a speech made by Imran Khan in which he allegedly threatened police and a female judge in 2022 after one of his close aides, Shahbaz Gill, was not given bail in a sedition case.

Imran Khan has been facing a number of legal cases since his ouster from power in a no-confidence vote in April last year by a united opposition.
