Custom seizes million rupees of non custom paid goods in last four months

LANDI KOTAL: Custom Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (North) has claimed to have seized non-custom paid commodities worth 1745 million rupees in 60 raids at various exit and entry in the province.

Chalking out four month report, Chief Collector KP Saeed Akhtar said that in connection of crackdown launched against non-custom paid goods, the custom intelligence in its anti-smuggling activities, carried out from July 2023 to 31 October, 2023, confiscated foreign made vehicles, cosmetics goods, black tea, cloth etc.worth of 950 million rupees.

Cases had been registered against the smugglers, he added.

The confiscation had been made during raids conducted at different borders and Bacha Khan AirPort.

In the same way, the Chief Collector maintained that the Custom Enforcement also seized huge quantities of non-paid custom goods in the previous four months.

It repossessed smuggling goods including gold, cars, foreign brand cloth, tires etc. value of 795 million rupees from inside custom checkpoints and the crossings. 

These commodities smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan via various sections of the Pak-Afghan border, he added.

In addition to anti-smuggling activities of the Collectorate of DI Khan, it was the effective action of the custom (North), he added and vowed that the crackdown would be in progress against smuggling.

The Chief Collector observed that excessive smuggling of foreign goods from Afghanistan to Pakistan had affected the economy and had paralyzed the country’s industry.
