KABUL (Agencies): Da Afghanistan Bank, the central bank of Afghanistan, has launched a plan to promote the use of Afghani currency and ban the use of foreign money in domestic transactions. The plan aims to strengthen the banking sector and stabilize the value of Afghani. On the occasion, a workshop was held in Kandahar, where governors, police chiefs, intelligence chiefs, mayors, traders, moneychangers, and bankers from the southwest zone of the country participated. Hedayatullah Badri, acting governor of Da Afghanistan Bank, stated that the Afghani currency is stable and has maintained its value in comparison to the currencies of other countries in the region. Mr. Badri urged the people of the southern region to fulfill their civic obligation of promoting the local currency by utilizing it in all domestic transactions. He also stated that during the next two and a half months, the use of Afghani currency will become common in the southwest zone of the country. Haji Mullah Shirin Akhund, the governor of Kandahar, hailed the initiative and encouraged people, particularly traders and industrialists to utilize their country’s currency in daily transactions. He referred to the plan as a national process that should be supported by everyone.
