DABS power company repossesses nearly 1500 acres of property

KABUL (TOLOnews): Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat said it has taken back nearly 1500 acres of property belonging to the company that has been taken over by others.
Officials at the company said that most of this property is from the following provinces:1380 acres in Nangarhar, 113 acres of land and 40 houses in Kabul, one acre of land in Baghlan and 6 houses in Balkh.
“About 1,495 acres of land belonging to Breshna Company have been returned from those squatting on it, including 1,380 acres of land in Nangarhar and 113 acres of land in Surobi district of Kabul province,” said Hekmatullah Maiwandi, a spokesman for DABS.
Meanwhile, Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat said in a conference that in the past one month more than 45 million afghanis of owed debts have been collected from powerful people and politicians.
“Furthermore, we have evaluated the electricity bills of former politicians and 545 customers, and, during the past month, more than 201 customers have been ready to pay, and 45,525,404 afghani have been collected from them,” said Hekmatullah Maiwandi, a spokesman for DABS.
Residents complained of power shortages in the capital, saying that most of the time Kabul does not have electricity.
“When there is no electricity, you know it creates lots of problems,” said Gul Hassan Amiri, a Kabul resident.
“Sometimes we have electricity and sometimes we do not have it, and we are faced with lots of challenges,” said Rahimullah, a Kabul resident.
The reason for the increase in shortages is due to technical problems of importing electricity from Uzbekistan, said Safiullah Ahmadzai, the chief operating officer of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat.
Afghanistan is dependent on the countries of Central Asia, especially Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan for electind domestic sources are not able to supply the country’s electricity needs.
