JALALABAD: At least 27 suspects, including eight Daesh (Islamic state) militants, have been arrested in connection with different offences in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
Police spokesman Farid told Pajhwok Afghan News of the 27 detainees, 19 were accused of armed robberies, kidnappings and drug smuggling.
He added the detainees, who confessed to their crimes, had been referred to judicial and justice organs for further investigarions.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Interior said eight IS rebels had been arrested during an operation by intelligence operatives in the Khewa district of Nangarhar late on Sunday night. (Pajhwok)
