DC visits Lachi hospital; suspends doctor for absence

KOHAT: Deputy Commissioner Kohat Khalid Ilyas, paid a surprised visit to newly upgraded D-Type Hospital Lachi and Civil Hospital Hakardara, where besides checking the attendance of doctors and other staff, also inspected its wards, equipments, medicines stores, x-rays plants and labs.

He took strong notice of the absentees and not maintaining of formal duty record in the said hospitals and directed to do away this practice.

He on the spot, issued directives to the DHO Kohat for sending termination case of the lady doctor Anam of Lachi Hospital to Secretary Health within 2 days for her 3 months willful absence and deduction of salaries of those doctors and staff who not entered attendance in the register.

He also took notice of the high charges of Ambulance i.e. Rs.2300/- from poor patients of Shakardara and directed the DHO to rationalize the charges keeping at the earliest in view the interest of the patients.

DC Kohat expressed his grave concern over the rotting of machinery and equipments worth of millions of rupees due to non appointment of specialist doctors in the Lachi Hospital and sent a report to the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Secretary Health to this effect.

He also recommended up gradation of Labs of these ospitals to the authorities concerned.

He on this occasion also ordered for improving the hygiene and cleanliness condition of the hospitals.

Khalid Ilyas, during his visit, listened to the problems of the doctors and other staff and assured that he himself would take it with the high-ups of the department on priority basis.
