Dengue virus prevention plan

Learning from the bitter experience of the past about Dengue virus outbreak, Khyber Pukhtunkhwa government has finalized its prevention plan. District Administrations will coordinate efforts of all relevant departments for insecticides spray and taking measures to cover open water storages that breed Dengue fly larvae. Besides this mass awareness campaign shall be launched with community participation for creating hygienic environment to prevent the outbreak of Dengue virus, for which no vaccine has been developed so far by the scientists of World Health Organisation.

Mass awareness campaign from next month will achieve the intended results. The TMAs can do insecticide spry in outer environment including roads and streets. Spray for Dengue prevention inside houses is the responsibility of dwellers themselves if they are properly educated and sensitized through print and electronic media. Effective anti-Dengue spray chemical by the name LAMBDA-CHALOTHTIN is available on big medicine stores. This is the most effective insecticide for the killing of Dengue fly. The services of Public Health Engineering Department can also be utilized in the implementation of Dengue control plan.
