Denial Pearl case and Pak government

The Supreme Court (SC) had maintained the Sindh High Court (SHC) order regarding release of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, the main accused in the murder of American Journalist Daniel Pearl and dismissed the Sindh government appeal in a 2-1 split verdict. During proceedings, the Sindh prosecutor general said an inquiry was being held against the accused for threatening government officials from jail, which is under progress. The court expressed dismay for not completing the inquiry for 12 years and ordered that accused must be release immediately if not wanted in any other case. Sindh Government also filed a petition for declaring Omar Sheikh an enemy of the country and canceling the SHC decision for his release. The Sindh Advocate General provided the court with a closed envelope and demanded stay in his release, but Supreme Court Bench rejected the plea.

Pearl family and United States government had been vigorously pursued the case and tried their level best to get punished the accused from the court. However, the court decided the case based on the evidence provided to it by the parties. The people of Pakistan have sympathies with the sadden family of Denial Pearl but to retain the accused without any legal reason is not possible.
