Deputy Minister of Counter-Narcotics calls for enhanced UNODC support in fighting drugs

KABUL (BNA): General Mullah Abdul Haq Akhund Hamkar, the Deputy Minister for Counter Narcotics at the Ministry of Interior, held a meeting with Bo Mathiasen, representative of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and Polleak Ok Serei, Head of the UNODC Office in Afghanistan.

During the discussions, Deputy Minister Hamkar highlighted the importance of enhancing alternative cultivation programs, expanding treatment options for drug addicts, and improving support mechanisms for rehabilitation and reintegration.

In response, the UNODC delegation assured the Deputy Minister of their commitment to continue cooperating in these vital areas, reinforcing their dedication to combating drug-related issues in Afghanistan.
