DIG martyred, seven others injured in Quetta attack

QUETTA: DIG Hamid Shakeel martyred and seven others including four policemen were injured when a police convoy was targeted in a bomb attack on Thursday morning.

Police officials told private news channel said DIG Hamid Shakeel and four other policemen were injured in the attack and they were shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) along with three passersby, but later DIG Shakeel succumbed to injuries.

Sources said that two police officials are in critical condition.

Police officials added that said DIG Shakeel’s vehicle was targeted as soon as the officer left this residence in the Chaman Housing Scheme of Quetta.

Police cordoned off the area and started search operation in the area.

Police are often targeted in terrorist attacks in parts of Balochistan and in the last attack which was occurred some three weeks ago when eight policemen were martyred and 20 others were injured after unidentified attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into their truck.
