Diplomatic Shuttle Service, MCI gets top bid in 102.6 million

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of the Municipal Administration (DMA) of the  Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) on Tuesday received a bid of 102.6 million rupees to run the Diplomatic Shuttle Bus Service (DSS) on temporary basis for the upcoming three years tenure with extension option of two years additionally.

In the auction process of DSS a total of 08 firms participated in the bidding process but the contact was awarded to the MS. Al-Noor wing factory for 102.6 million rupees edging out the 102.5 million bid of the MS.Sasam private limited.

It’s pertained to mentioned here that the federal government in security arena of the 9/11 attacks in US barred the entry of private vehicles into the diplomatic enclave in 2011 till yet private vehicles are not allowed to enter into the diplomatic enclave following that a bus terminal had been constructed for the diplomatic shuttle service for visitors and visa applicants going to various diplomatic missions.

In an advertisement, the MCI had fixed per round fare in the air conditioned coasters, not older than 2017 model at Rs500 fares while Rs1000 introduced for the executive service which is a round trip for 1300CC cars no later than 2017 model.

The last auction was held in Nov, 2018 in which seven parties participated including Diplomatic Shuttle Transport Service, Sarfraz Associates (PVT).Ltd, Waleed Associates, Islamabad Bus Terminal, Pak Limousine Services (PVT).Ltd, Bilal Travel and Tours, and Faizan Communications. Its pertained to mentioned here that the corruption watchdog of the country National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in 2018 arrested four officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in corruption scam of the diplomatic shuttle service while awarding the million worth contract on favoritism approach including former member planning Nusrutullah, former CDA Planning Wing director general Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu, Munir Jilani and M/S DSTS (Contractor) Managing Director Muhammad Hussain Gill.
