Dir police recover 440 litres liquor

TIMERGARA: The Talash Lower Dir police on Saturday evening raided a rented house in Kalpani and recovered 440 litres of locally made wine (Illegal liquor) stored in drums. The accused identified as Lal Muhammad, a resident of Qazafi Bajaur agency escaped from the scene while his wife was taken into custody. The Timergara head quarter DSP Fakhr e Alam headed the team comprised of SHO Talash Younas Rehman, ASI Abdul Wahab, ASI Shamshir Ali and others.

Talking to local journalists DSP Fakhr e Alam said the accused had rented the house in Talash and he was engaged in selling of locally made wine for quite some time. He said the accused used to make ‘Deesi’ wine in one of the bath rooms in his house which he used as a factory. Police also took into custody the equipment, utensils and mixtures used in wine manufacturing. The Talash police registered a case against the accused under sections 1334 and 2488 crpc.

DISPLAY CENTERS: The election commission of Pakistan has set up 211 display centers in Lower Dir for objection of voters’ registration, its shifting and correction. The district election officer Noor Said Khan Khattak while speaking at a function after the staff training at district council hall Balambat here on Sunday, said the ECP had planned to register more and more eligible voters as it wished every male and female voter to exercise their right to vote. He said the display centers would start working on Monday (today) and continue till April, 24. He asked media persons, Ulema and teachers to play active role in the campaign of voters’ registration.
