Dir residents praise army operation against militancy

TIMERGARA: The Commandant Dir Task Force (DTF) Colonel Shehzad Amir on Friday said that militants would not be allowed to sabotage and disturb peace in the region again. He stated this while addressing a gathering of area elders after inaugurating new routes at Islam Darra check post. The commandant also removed last barrel on Maidan Kumbar road.

Besides elders operational commander of Maidan battalion Lt. Colonel Sheraz Hussain, assistant commissioner Maidan Masood Jan, DSP Saeed ur Rehman and other officials also attended the function. The commandant said that militancy had been rooted out in Dir by security forces with the help of local population and civil administration. He said the area was now safe and sound while militants would not be allowed again to disturb peace and development.

The commandant admitted the role played by local masses in restoring peace and said the Pakistan army appreciated the sacrifices rendered by public, police and Frontier Corps. He asked the elders to play their due role now in the process of development and prosperity. He said the enemy could not defeat the Pakistan army if it had the support of the nation. He said the people of Pakistan trusted its soldiers and would support them at any time.

The commandant said that all powers had been handed over to civil administration and no personnel of the army were now performing duty at check posts. He said the new routes at Islam Darra would ease people miseries while travelling from Maidan and vice versa.
